| don't lose faith |
A good old friend of mine recently came to me and asked about the firm I am working in and forensic accounting.
He, who used to excel and shine in classes, is one of the most talented persons I have known. He has always impressed me by his smart character, confidence and gentle heart.
Due to various reasons, I can no longer see his shining face. I am given to understand it is to a large extent because of what he has gone through recently in his career and I am reminded I was the same frustrated person two years ago as he is.
When life comes to a stage to remind us to think and re-think, I am grateful that certain unforgettable experience are sealed at the bottom of my mind, and moving forward, we shall never lose faith. |

| still .... blood of fighters. |
just received a post card from HKU alumni services for Century Celebrations.
in the front page top left corner, it says "Knowledge Heritage Service". on the back, it says
"HKU alumni have fought to eradicate poverty, promote equality, ensure sustainability...
Rest assured, HKU students are building a better world in their own unique ways."
I am still proud of being a HKU alumni and fond of the history of battles those great people before and after me have fought in this 100 years.
however, this also reminds me one thing. Mr Vice Chancellor Tsui Lap Chi, you are a great scholar and may be a great fundraiser too (without disrespect)... BUT you are not one of them. You have broken my heart... please... please go... we don't need you any more. |

| To a good friend who dedicates his career to shoot. |
I could not recall when you have fallen in love with lens.
I can just bring up some bit and pieces of memory you hanging with various types of camera, taking photography courses, sharing dreams of capturing moments of magnificence as well as difficulties for making dreams alive.
I cannot deny the doubts cast on your “dreams” in the beginning, which I now regret for.
I admire your bravery and sustainable passion, which I don't have.
As a layman of lens, I can tell from your projects that your shots are more like the artwork merging the beauty of the Creator’s work and the inner beauty of the couples. It’s NOT a mixture of two. Indeed, I like the word “fusion” which many people don’t (「融合」 according to dictionary, it is interesting to note it’s the same in English, French, Spanish and Latin).
One would remember in Genesis chapter 1 that in the 7 days of His creation, it says “God saw that it was good (「神看著是好的」) [in verses 10, 18, 25 & 31]”. In His eyes, every creature is good and you capture the beauty in your photos.
For each and every pair, I can see different themes that each album carries. The themes are not limited by any time, places, weather or even color. If one likes dark color, your photos carry the elegance and silence of the pause therein. If they are fans of nature, your photos bring out the blue of the sky and the smell of grasses. Your lens shoots through the couple’s bonding, commitment and favorite mood.
To me, themes can be flexible and changing. It’s more than just 「自然美」because 「自然美」can be just a theme for one single album.
But your style is surely more than that.
The importance is your capability to integrate the Creator’s beauty and the creature’s beauty, which turns into different themes in different album. A fusion of the 2 kinds of beauty can make the love therein EVERLASTING.
This is what a layman of lens can tell and my tribute to a master like you.

| passie.... |
The final result of hkicpa insolvency diploma was released. I got pass.
To be frank, I had been worrying for that final result for the past 2 months. It was a 9-month course with intensive lectures, workshops, tutorials, assignments, exams…
Although I passed the first two exams, I didn’t have much confidence for the final exam as I did have for the last two. It could be because of luck for this final one. But I don’t have to be the top student, do i?....and doesn’t matter now... I have already thrown away all the notes!!!
So…what’s next….is it a time for another challenge?

「...認知的落差構成政策和政治語言的落差。今天中共一些人忘了十幾年前全國政協主席李瑞環的茶缸論，茶漬洗刷了反而不美。蘇聯總統戈爾巴喬夫八十年代末曾經說過一番很有意思的話﹕他很羡慕中共，因為還有海外華人華僑這些關係，讓中共能夠很快明白什麼是資本主義；蘇聯因為十月革命都七十年了，全國懂得資本主義的不是死光便是清洗光，要振興經濟與世界接軌不知從何說起。中共有些人對戈爾巴喬夫恨之入骨，說他是蘇東波的罪魁禍首，戈爾巴喬夫其實沒有大奸大惡，他只是說出實話，解放蘇聯人民；中共某些人的尺是保住政權，戈爾巴喬夫的尺是人民福祉，分別即在於此。.....」

| my job 4 - 少說話、多做事 |
I realized that I am being too conscious in making friends in the office (not surprisingly, isn’t it?). I think the psychologists or sociologists can easily describe this symptom by an academic terminology. Indeed, I think most of the colleagues here are good people and for most of the time, we have made a good team in working.
In fact, there are only approx 3 big-mouth people (as far as I am concerned…) as long as I can keep myself away from them, I am safe. And, the beauty is I can be quite independent.
Sometimes and somewhere, the peer pressure will force one to participate the social activities or the gossip in the office. But no such pressure here, and I am quite free here.
In case I need to seek help from anyone, they kindly offer assistance. If I need some room to concentrate on my work, I can just shut up and work….no disturbance caused to me at all (except from lawyers and clients)…
So, apart from all these, I enjoy the working environment quite a lot here.
In terms of work, it’s not a bad thing to work for or with gui-lo. They are always open for negotiation. as long as you have a point and able to convince them, they buy it.
Besides, I really appreciate the trust between colleagues. That really counts to me who had experienced some trust and confidence disaster from last job. It’s really sweet.
Needless to say, the fridge is always filled with beer and wine……
It’s 5:30pm now. Let’s dance.
